Ballet reduces 40% labor with Pick to Light

Client: Ballet Jewels is a leading designer and marketer of fashion jewelry to mass merchandisers, department stores and specialty retailers, with over 5,000 SKUs across various product categories (earrings, bracelets, rings, pins, necklaces).

Challenge: Exponential demand growth for their increasingly popular costume jewelry products among major retailers, such as the Target Corporation. To meet demand and keep customers satisfied, Ballet Jewels needed a way to rapidly increase their picking capacity without increasing labor costs and sacrificing order accuracy.

Solution: Many options were evaluated, including 3PL, RF devices and Pick to Light systems. After an intense market analysis and bidding process, Ballet Jewels selected AL Systems Order Management, Pick to Light and Order Auditing solution which incorporated 300 bin display modules and 4 mobile scanning devices to existing flow rack configuration. The low impact approach achieved several objectives: fast time to install, maintained a familiar order fulfillment look and feel to minimize retraining, and minimized Material Handling modifications.

Results: Over 40% reduction in picking labor, over 99.9% accuracy, and the flexibility to scale rapidly, both as an operation and with client order increases.
